It commemorates Gustav Schäfer (born 1859 in Eschwege, died 1906 in Göttingen), the son of a wealthy leather manufacturer who donated a large sum of money to his hometown for charitable and charitable purposes in his will. At least a very nice one

Gustav Schäfer, son of a wealthy leather manufacturer, donated 280,000 Reichsmarks to his hometown of Eschwege for charitable purposes in his will. As a thank you, this classicist temple was built in one of his favorite places near the "Schiller-Linde". The building was renovated in 1994.
