The Dünzebacher-Tor-Turm is the only remaining tower of the former city fortifications. It dates from the 16th century. The wall that used to surround the city is only visible in very few places, such as in Mauerstraße.

The Dünzebacher Torturm, the last remnant of the once towering medieval city fortifications, was built in its present form only after the Thirty Years' War. It replaces older tower and gates of 1322 and 1531.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, it served as an urban prison and is therefore also called the "prison tower".
