"In 1554, the Electoral Chancellor Hieronymus Kiesewetter purchased the Dittersbach manor along with the associated villages of Eschdorf, Wünschendorf, and Bonnewitz. He had the castle built starting in 1555, overbuilding a previous moated castle.

In 1883, the castle was sold from the Quandt family to the Leuschner family. They had it rebuilt in 1885/1886, which gave it its wings. The city of Dresden purchased the castle in 1925 and had it converted into a convalescent home."
