Hiking Highlight (Segment)
Narrow, deeply cut valley of the Wesenitz, which is also known as the gateway to Saxon Switzerland. The famous painters' path, which has inspired many artists, leads through here.
In the valley you pass the ruins of an old hydroelectric power station, the largest Wagner monument in the world and the Lochmühle, which has been closed for several years. This is a fabulous place to discover and watch how nature slowly reclaims its territory.

Beautiful, wildly romantic reason, which also marks the beginning of Malerweges.

Here begins the Malerweg. Here the landscape is still quite calm. The rocks will come later.

At the beginning of the Malerweg you come through this wildly romantic ground. Sometimes it really looks like in the jungle. On the way you pass an old waterworks, the Richard Wagner monument and the Lochmühle.

A nice description comes to mind for this path: "Stumbling blocks and forgotten places". I created a small picture gallery and wanted to make a reference to "Lost places", because there are a lot of them along the way. It's actually a pity that the hospitality of all things "fell by the wayside", so to speak.
However, for the many hyper in search of the decayed, this path is highly recommended!

The starting point of the first stage of the Malerweg is the Liebethaler Grund. Although there were other variants of painter's paths that somehow formerly haunted the Saxon Switzerland, and they all actually started in the area of Dresden, but the newly created Malerweg starts in the Liebethaler reason. The new Malerweg is marked with a few signposts and a few tablets and is therefore relatively easy to find. From the old factory building of the re-commissioned Pirna-Liebethal waterworks, it goes into the Liebethaler Grund.

The water ripples along the path and the birds chirp.
A relaxed walk from Liebetal via the old power station (water power) to the Wagner monument with music and via the Lochmühle (under renovation) to the Daubemühle.

Wonderful path on the Wesenitz, a very clean little river, there are many animal species there that are otherwise rarely seen, including the dipper!

At this point, where the fallen tree crosses the river, two rocks narrow the river in such a way that it gains speed there and creates a rapid. The spot looks particularly great in the morning sun.

Wonderfully cool in summer. There is all sorts of things to discover here: a monument here, an old mill there, Lost Places - simply beautiful!

Surefootedness is an advantage;)
And maybe even hiking sticks ...

One of the most beautiful hiking trails in Saxon Switzerland. Tip 1: take the hiking trail to Porschendorf. Tip 2: visit the most idyllic estuary in the Elbe in Pratzschwitz, because that's where the Wesenitz flows

The Liebethaler Grund is a wonderful hiking trail at any time, whether in summer or winter. In addition to the beautiful nature on the Wesenitz, there are also the mills and the old power plant with its technical equipment.
