    Tirschenreuther Waldnaab

The left, eastern source river of the Waldnaab, the Tirschenreuther Waldnaab, has its source at 816 m, on the German-Czech border in the Upper Palatinate Forest near the 901 m high Entenbühl and its smaller brother, the Naabberg 853 m. The source, also known as the "Kreuzbrunnen “, is located in the district of Tirschenreuth, near Silberhütte. From the source, the water flows just under three meters on German soil before it touches western Bohemia as Lesní Nába for two kilometers and, flowing to the northwest, crosses the German border again and reaches Bärnau.

After leaving the forest, it first flows through the village of Naab. In Bärnau, the Tirschenreuther Waldnaab bends to the west and flows through the approximately 88-hectare Liebenstein flood reservoir just below Bärnau-Thanhausen and north of Plößberg. It then turns north and reaches Tirschenreuth, where it bends west again and flows in numerous meanders through the Waldnaabaue with its many lakes.

Passing Falkenberg Castle in Falkenberg, it now flows to the south-west, reaching the roughly 12-kilometre-long, densely wooded Waldnaabtal with many granite rock formations on or in the river. North of Windischeschenbach, after approx. 62 km, the Tirschenreuther Waldnaab merges with the Fichtelnaab and then becomes the Waldnaab.
