Did you know that the geographic center of Western Europe is in the middle of the Upper Palatinate? You can watch it here. A beautifully made granite disc indicates this. Whether this point is really right here or not - you don't know. The Institute for Geography at the University of Munich is sure of that. In any case, it's enough for a short break and if all of this is far too unspectacular, have a look at the creative barn next door, where a talkative pensioner can certainly entertain you with his works of art and his stories.

Nice place with two well-made information boards, an information stone and benches to sit down on. The center itself is beautifully designed, a section of the "earth globe" with a metal tip that shows the center here in Hildweinsreuth. The center has existed since the beginning of the 18th century, half of the way between Lübeck and Trieste was considered the center of Europe.
