Diesters Broek Viewing Platform

This viewing platform - which you can also use as a shelter in case of unexpectedly bad weather - offers a view of the Diesters Broek, nature towards Zelem (with the Rotbroek), the path to Webbekom and the Webbekoms Broek and last but not least the Demer and the Zwart Water. It is located near the bridge over the Demer on the two paths to Diest and the path to Webbekom and also provides an excellent overview of the infrastructure that has been built here in the context of waterworks with the valve weir between the Demer and Zwarte Beek. You can see the fish swimming upstream there on sunnier days. Of course, the viewing platform - provided the necessary equipment - is also a good place for those who want to observe birds and other animals. Further on the path to Webbekom you will find an identical viewing platform.

What a pleasant surprise to come out here shortly after the construction of this new viewing platform and to be able to take a photo of it. There is still work going on in the area (March 2023). It will definitely be worth stopping by and taking a look in a few months.

The people of Nature & Forest and the province of Flemish Brabant have placed beautiful educational signs in the covered part of the lookout tower. Here it is about the Webbekoms Broek as a bird paradise, the fish and how they can continue now and the grey shrike. The latter also gets some attention outside.
