The current bridge was put into service in 1885 and, like the entire Canal Saint-Martin, it has been included on the list of historic monuments since 1993.
In the film Hôtel du Nord by Marcel Carné (1938), the hotel of the same name is located on the Quai de Jemmapes, in the immediate vicinity of the bridge.
