The protected natural monument Finkenstein stands at an altitude of 650 meters. It is a densely forested rise in Finkensteinwald north of Bernstein. The rock group is made up of slightly folded mica slate embedded in porphyry granite. The rock group has been designated as a valuable geotope by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment.
