A problem-free river crossing is very easy 100 m downstream at the bridge near Biegenmühle. It's not a big detour.
What cyclists tend to underestimate at a ford like this is the algae growth on the paved stones:
>>infernally slippery>Wonderful to wade through with children<<
as you can get very close to the river.
