    Kreuzberg Chapel

The chapel is dedicated to Saints Sebastian and Rochus. The reason for the construction was a vow made by the citizens of Kronach in 1634. After the siege by the Swedes and the spread of the plague, the citizens vowed to build a chapel.

The Sebastiani octave is still used today.

Inside are still three votive tablets that indicate that the chapel (and its source) is also associated with miraculous healings.

When Kronach suffered more than 1,000 deaths from the plague in 1634, the residents vowed to build a chapel on the vineyard if the suffering came to an end. When their requests were heard, an oak cross was erected and the place was called “Zum Heiligen Kreuz”. Little by little the vineyard became Kreuzberg.
