Where the Kronach, Rodach and Haßlach rivers meet at the foot of the Franconian Forest, Rosenberg Fortress towers over the small town of Kronach. The defiant bulwark is one of the best-preserved fortifications in Germany. It's worth a visit on its own.My tour of the city was limited to a look up and today was devoted to the equally impressive rest. The city is more than 1000 years old and is adorned with sandstone and half-timbered houses in its core. Sandstone processing has a long tradition in the region. A beautiful entrance to the old town is the Bamberger Tor. Lucas Cranach the Elder Ä. began his life in Kronach. A green promenade was created along the banks of the Haßlach for the 2002 State Garden Show, which is still worth walking on today.
Conclusion: Kronach = look!
