Reykjavik with the many streets, the traffic 🚐🚗🏍🚛🚦🛵🚚🛻🚙🚑 and the many people 🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶👩🦯🏃♂️ was already a little challenge after the 2 wonderfully quiet weeks😄. We prefer the peace and solitude, but there still had to be a little bit of city air. We didn't have much time anyway, but it was enough for a short stroll and a delicious dinner 😋🍲 in the vegan restaurant. Then we drove to Keflavik for one last, short night. Our flight 🛩 leaves at 7:20 😪
But we had 2 wonderful weeks here and it was definitely not the last time we were in Iceland 🙂🙋♀️

The Hraunfossar and the Barnafoss are right next to each other. We particularly like the Hraunfossar, it just looks like a fairytale, the way the water flows from the lava craggy slopes. 🥰. That's why we really wanted to make a stop on our drive back to Reykjavik today. Although rain was forecast for the whole day today, we were lucky again and it stayed dry 🙂🌤⛅

Today's route leads through Blönduós with the river Blanda. At one point there is a small island that can be reached via a suspension bridge. I want to go there! Just right for a morning walk 😊🚶♀️Since Janina has problems with her foot, I go out on my own. A wonderful short hike is waiting for me. I have the small island all to myself ...

After scratching our car free this morning and taking a look at the frozen bay next to our accommodation, we continued north to the Vatnajökulspjóđgardur National Park. Actually we wanted to go to the Echofelsen, unfortunately the way there was closed. So we rescheduled and chose the Ásbyrgi Gorge as our destination. You can walk down in the gorge or up on the cliff. The way up, with ladders and ropes, looked exciting, so we decided to do it. Above was a wonderful heather landscape🌸, reddish autumnal color🍁🍂, many, many blueberries🫐, rocks and a few small waterfalls. Fantastically beautiful and frosty cold 🙂

We took a nice walk on the beach! 🙂 Past the sea with a black beach, an airplane wreck, many sheep 🐑 and wonderful Icelandic horses🐎. We are in Pórshöfn, in the northeast fjords, where there are hardly any tourists at the moment. After we had to scratch ice on the car this morning, the weather in the afternoon was nice, calm and 5 ° warm 😉
We saw the northern lights last night, I "smuggled in" again.
Greetings to everyone from the north 🙋♀️

Our hike to Hengifoss was very cloudy! The higher we got, the foggy it got. We didn't see the Hengifoss, one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland, at all 🌫😄 These are the little natural surprises ...
What the heck, the path was beautiful and we have already seen so many waterfalls 🙃 And contrary to the weather forecast, it stayed dry 🙂

We liked the Vestlandsfossar so much yesterday that we wanted to see it again this morning in sunlight. From there a hiking trail leads to other waterfalls. Due to lack of time, we had discarded the plan to hike the whole way (says my daughter 😄) The sun wasn't there, instead clouds, fog and hills shining in all shades of red ... How should I not walk such a path? 🥰 I just moved on, from waterfall to waterfall and my daughter came just as enthusiastic with An absolute dream path!

Today we have a whole day in Seyđisfjörđur, the weather is fine, so we set out on a hike👣 along the fjord of the same name to the Brimnes lighthouse. The path leads past countless waterfalls 🌊, again and again we have to look for a way through the watercourses that have their destination in the fjord. Sheep 🐏🐑 are omnipresent, watch us curiously and then run away. The lighthouse itself is small, bright orange and can only be reached via a "meadow" without a path, which is criss-crossed with many moats.
On the way back we stop at the huge Vestlandsfossar. A canyon in which many large waterfalls come together. Insanely great, off the beaten track and not even mentioned in the travel guide. 🙂
