Today I actually wanted to go home. But the weather was so nice that I stayed overnight and went on another hike from Mittenwald.
It went steeply up the mountain to the Brunnsteinhütte. The last third in the snow, on icy paths, further and further up the mountain on serpentines. It was smooth ..... But I made it and could enjoy my Kaiserschmarrn with a fantastic mountain rescue service.🥘☕ 🙂☀️ I gave myself extra time so that the sun could melt the ice a little. The way back was actually better
Since I was so close to Austria, I absolutely had to cross the border once and made a detour to Scharnitz and discovered the ruins of Porta Claudia. Back to Mittenwald it was a beautiful path along the turquoise Isar.
The day was a very nice end to my short vacation.

Today it didn't rain continuously anymore and sometimes the sun even came out a bit. We made a trip to Highline 179 and the castle ruins Fort Claudia and Ehrenberg in Austria. There were only a few tourists here, the weather stayed dry and we were able to enjoy the short hike at a cool 3 °. The bridge is impressive, the view of the nearby mountains is fantastic and we also liked the ruins very much.

It has rained heavily since yesterday 🌧🌧🌧, until today around 2:30 pm ☁️. Fortunately, my daughter is visiting over the weekend 🥰 and we sat out scrabbling in the rain and talking. When it was dry, we immediately used the rain break for a walk around the beautiful Elbsee. The clouds partially revealed the view of the Zugspitze and the surrounding mountains, the lake shone turquoise green and the deep clouds created the magic. Fantastically beautiful!

Today I took the Fellhornbahn to the summit station (a short hike around the Schlappoldsee at the middle station) in order to have enough time for the two mountain peaks Fellhorn and Kanzelwand. Then I wanted to take the ridge path from the Fellhorn and descend from there. But since there was snow at the top and it was very smooth, slippery and steep, I climbed the two peaks (was especially happy at the Kanzelwand summit when I was down safely again 🙃) and did without the ridge path. Instead, I took the hiking trail south of the Fellhornbahn downhill. In the afternoon the sky was finally really blue and I could really enjoy the descent and the view. 🙂

After the weather got a little better this lunchtime and it was only drizzling, I wanted to at least do a short hike to Freibergsee. The path was very beautiful, through the forest and along the Stillach, but again had steep passages. The lake is located in the middle of the forest and looks gorgeous in the sunshine 🙂. But even with the rain, which got stronger and stronger, it looked nice with the cloud-covered mountains. Refreshments on the way were all closed, I finally got my Kaiserschmarrn in Oberstdorf.

It was supposed to be a 14 km tour to the Breitachklamm. I didn't think that Corona would also affect the gorge and make it a one-way street ... I should have thought if I had only thought about it. But this way I was at the wrong end and had to take a long detour and again and again it went very steeply up or down. But the impressive gorge was worth it! 🙂

After it rained heavily last night and the weather for today was not so well announced, I was unsure at first whether I could do my planned tour to the Nagelfluhkette. To save time, I wanted to take the midday train up. However, it didn't drive today, so I did. When I was up on the Steineberg (1683 m), the sun even came out and it was wonderful to run. The ladder up to the summit was fun and easy. The ridge trail was tough in some places, but it was absolutely beautiful, great views all around. The descent was a bit strenuous and went down on your knees. Many vertical meters steeply downhill and wet, slippery terrain for a few kilometers. Finally, the Steigbachtal with its many waterfalls was very beautiful.
