De Fortuin was probably built in the 17th century and modified in the 18th century. It was first used as a grain warehouse, then as a coal warehouse, a lemonade factory, a carpentry workshop, a city warehouse, and a restaurant. The building is now occupied.

The weather vane depicts the goddess Fortuna with the cornucopia.

Right next to De Fortuin on the Nete River is the Paardendrink (Horse Drink), an old washing and drinking place for animals.
