On June 5, 2024, the so-called "De Renert" monument in honor of Michel Rodange was re-inaugurated after a restoration.
The natural stone monument "De Renert", which is located on Place Guillaume II next to the town hall, was erected from 1931 to 1932 to honor the Luxembourg poet Michel Rodange (1827-1876). It refers to his main work, excerpts from which are engraved on the back of the monument. The balustrades are also listed as historical monuments. They were built at the same time as the town hall was built in 1838.
As part of the restoration, all natural stone elements, the cast concrete sculpture "De Fiischen" and the stone and cast iron elements of the balustrades were dismantled, restored in the workshop and reassembled. The bronze elements, such as the medallion with the portrait of Michel Rodange, and the decorated spout of the fountain have also been restored. The new sign with the inscription "Drénkwaasser" also has a push button that is connected to a timer that, when pressed, starts the flow of water on request.
