The I. Hammer is a district of Mägdesprung, which in turn belongs as a district to the city Harzgerode in Saxony-Anhalt district of Harz. In addition, it is registered as a hammer mill in the local monument list.
The first hammer is located in Selketal in the Harz on the county road from Mägdesprung to Selkemühle. South of the village along the road flows the Selke.
The existing only a few houses district, which is also referred to as I. Friedrich Hammer, was created in 1777. It was planned as an extension of the Mägdesprung smelter for fresh hearth and stave iron production and served as the location of a hammer mill. The name Friedrichshammer refers to the founder of the works, Prince Friedrich Albrecht of Anhalt-Bernburg. Preserved in the village is the house of the hammer master, a farm building and workers' houses from the 19th century. The Hammermeister's house was later used as a school. In addition, there is also the 1822 arisen Hammergraben with a renewed in the 1950s Obergrabentafelschütz and mouthholes. The original hammer building no longer exists and was replaced by a brick house built turbine house.
As a spelling of the name and the advertised form First Hammer is common.

The rock group "Gegensteine" are wrongly placed here, they don't belong in the Selketal - but they are beautiful!
