The core of the evangelical parish church of St. Laurentius in Burggrub probably dates from the first half of the 13th century. At the beginning of the 16th century, the nave was added in a westerly direction. The greatest change or construction work took place in 1780-1783, when the nave was changed again. In addition, the tower was given the shape we know today and was covered with slate. The tower probably had a simple peaked roof, as was common at the time. In 1927 the nave was enlarged to its current size and the interior got its current layout and appearance. The last renovation and beautification of the church took place in 1987/88. The interior, which is covered with a coffered ceiling, is worth seeing. The late Gothic Marian winged altar, probably from the year 1543, is considered a gem. The figures of Saint Leonhard, Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret are depicted on its altarpiece. In the altar extract there is an image of Mary.
