[ʒɑ̃] and German [paʊl]), also Jean Paul Friedrich Richter, actually Johann Paul Friedrich Richter (born March 21, 1763 in Wunsiedel, † November 14, 1825 in Bayreuth), was a German writer. In terms of literary history, his work stands between the epochs of Classicism and Romanticism. The change of name he chose was due to Jean Paul's great admiration for Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
