Possenberg Section Fortification

Stately fortification from the early Middle Ages. The ramparts are clearly recognizable in the terrain.

Imposing Carolingian-Ottonian fortifications from the 8th-10th centuries Century. Wall and ditch remnants can still be made out very well in the area. It's a shame that no archaeological investigation has taken place yet. For more information about the system, see the information board on the east side of the ridge (or image 1 of the highlight).

The section fortification Possenberg is impressive in size. Now in winter you have the area to yourself, as I was there, nobody was wet and wide to see.
