Wadendorf Castle is located on a hill in the village of the same name in the immediate vicinity of the Wiesent. Wadendorf is a district of the municipality of Plankenfels in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in Bavaria. There is a two-storey main building, the southern ring wall with two round towers and remnants of the gate system.
The hill castle was first mentioned in a document from 1453, with which Bamberg's Bishop Anton von Rotenhan approved the brothers Bartholomäus and Andreas von Königsfeld to convert their house in Wadendorf into a castle. It is assumed that there was already a manor house at that time. The bishop of Bamberg ordered the new castle to be fief.
