This is the artwork 'Job on the manure heap'

The rather expressive sculpture was made by no less than Jef Willems, one of the greatest Mechelen artists of his generation. Willems was born in 1845 in Sinjorenstad, but he received his education at our Royal Academy of Art. One of his teachers was the well-known Joseph Tuerlinckx, who carved the statues of Margareta of Austria and Rembert Dodoens in stone, among others.
