The Laveshaus was built in 1822 - 1824.
It was the home of the architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves.
Next to it is a studio building.
In 1998 the buildings were restored, rebuilt and supplemented.
Here you can see bourgeois living culture in classicism.
The Chamber of Architects is now based in the buildings and also offers guided tours.

There is a sculpture in the entrance area of the property. It stood on a makeshift base for a few years and has now been given a permanent base.
It is almost certain that it is a work by the sculptor Kurt Schwerdtfeger (1897 - 1966). The sculpture comes from the estate of the architect Friedrich Lindau, the founding president of the Chamber of Architects. Lindau and his wife had appointed the Laves Foundation, the foundation of the Chamber of Architects, as their heirs.
The sculpture represents a stylized couple that has merged into one figure (possibly created as a "king and queen" or something similar). Kurt Schwerdtfeger's son, Stefan Schwerdtfeger, who was also a sculptor, had a counterpart in his possession. On the page about Schwerdtfeger's work (kurt-schwerdtfeger.de/) there is a picture of a similar sculpture entitled "Blossoming God".
(My thanks go to the Chamber of Architects for information about the sculpture).
