West Shore of Maschsee

The name of the lake is derived from the so-called "Leinemasch" or simply "Masch". This is the historical corridor name for the area where the lake was created. It is a lower-lying floodplain of the leash. The origin of the term Masch is related to the landscape type of the march (Wikipedia).
