Ter Motten Castle (also: Termotten Castle or Dilsen Castle) is a castle in Dilsen, located at Europalaan 25.
Originally Ter Motten was a Loons loan, located next to the Heerbaan. There may have been a motte or older castle on the site of the current castle. The oldest known lord was Willem van Rommershoven who is mentioned in 1375. This was followed by the families Van Horpmaal, Van Papenhoven, De Waimes (about 1500), De Coursel and, since 1643, De Rosen. In 1784, through marriage, it came into the possession of the De Saeren family. After 1863, the Van Aefferden and Moreau de Bellaing families successively came into possession of the castle. In 1973, the castle, together with the park, was sold to the municipality by the latter family. Today it is the town hall of Dilsen-Stokkem. In 1985 it was protected as a monument.
The castle was built in 1725 in Baroque style by Michel De Rosen. When the Rijksweg was built in 1812, the park was divided in two. In 1932, another wing was added to the rear facade.
The castle is built in yellow painted brick, with a pediment resting on pilasters, and limestone corner bands. It has a slate covered mansard roof.
The interior contains several 18th- and 19th-century fireplaces, including some with Delft blue tiles.
The park, which surrounds the castle, contains some remarkable trees.
The original entrance can still be found in the park. The old gate is the eastern entrance to the park and was built when the park was split due to the construction of the Rijksweg.
