In the old town of Lobeda is the Lobeda Castle or the Lower Lobdeburg.

Lobeda is a district of Jena. Very pretty up here.
The forerunner of today's castle was probably not built until around 1480, when Duke Wilhelm of Saxony enfeoffed the former mountain and municipal court clerk of Schneeberg, Friedrich von Lunderstedt, with this property. The owners changed frequently.

I discovered the old castle in Lobeda during my hike, but also looked at it again by bike. 😉 Today it is used more as a hotel and conference hotel. It offers a good view of the city and also of the nearby Lobdeburg. A hiking trail not far away leads directly there.
