In 2014, the castle regained the appearance it had in the mid-19th century. The city office and the elementary art school moved out. On the first floor there are showcases with original exhibits belonging to the Windischgrätz family, to which the newly designed tour route leads. The ceremonial hall was preserved.
An exhibition about the town of Tachov was set up on the ground floor of the chateau. It contains exhibits on the history of the town, the chateau and the riding arena in Světce. On the 2nd floor there is an exhibition room with changing exhibits.

Tachau Castle stands on the site of the original medieval castle. It got its current shape at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, when the new owner of the Tachau estate, Josef Nikolas Windischgrätz, had it built in the then modern classicist style. This noble family owned the castle until the 30s of the 20th century.
