The Hintersteiner See is a mountain lake in the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve and belongs to the municipality of Scheffau in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The lake was formed during the last Ice Age and is 882 m above sea level. A. Underground springs fill the lake with crystal clear water.
