The Hintersteiner lake is a beautiful mountain lake in the middle of the nature reserve Wilder Kaiser with crystal clear water and lido. The lake is 56 ha and up to 36 meters deep, it lies at 883 m.

A beautiful path leads around the lake, which is paved from the parking lot to the west Jausenstation Goingstätthof and therefore also suitable for strollers. The south bank, however, rises slightly and offers fantastic views of the Wilder Kaiser, reflected in the water. Popular photo motive!

Large pay parking available. Even in winter the trail is a beautiful hike!

Very nice circuit around the Hintersteiner lake. The first half is paved the second half leads through the forest. The second half is always up and down. Depending on the condition, hiking sticks are helpful here. At the beginning and in the middle of the trail are restaurants that invite you to take a break.

From Söll you can walk to this lake. It will certainly be fascinating in autumn, when the leaves have turned colorful. There is also a circular route around the lake with appropriate rest stops.

A beautiful loop around the lake with so many refreshments in between. Even a grass snake, which eagerly hissed, may meet there. 😁

The lake Hintersteiner See is picturesquely situated at the foot of the Widen Kaiser. It is interesting that the lake is dammed on one side of the lake ("front") and on the other side ("back"), the water is derived for power generation along the stone stairs.

At the Hintersteiner lake, in the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve, in whose waters the peaks of the Kaisergebirge are impressively reflected, there is a public bathing beach, where you can also swim. A visit is also worthwhile if you do not want to swim, because the area around the lake with its meadows and forests, invites the visitor and viewer to stay and relax. Beautiful restaurants on the lake or near the lake complete the offer.
Especially beautiful is the lake tour. Here again and again an impressive picture, on the one hand the wonderful panorama and on the other hand the mountain peaks of the Wilden Kaiser reflect again and again in the lake.

Very beautiful lake in the Alps. On the circuit there are many seats and rest areas with a beautiful view of the lake. The circular walk itself can be run with almost any shoe and you get a nice insight into the nature and the vegetation.
