The picturesque Weißenburger Platz forms the center of the so-called "French Quarter" in Haidhausen. Like the surrounding streets, the concentric square itself is named after a French city: Weissenburg (today: Wissembourg) in Alsace. One of the five streets that run into the square in a star shape also bears this name. Weißenburger Straße is a pedestrian zone and connects the square with the S-Bahn station at Rosenheimer Platz.

In the middle of Weißenburger Platz sits the so-called Glass Palace Fountain, which August Voit created in 1853. It was once in the glass palace in the old botanical garden, but was later moved to its current location. In the warm season there is a colorful floral display to admire at Weißenburger Platz.
