The age of the Bażyński oak is estimated at 700 years, but for 100 years there was a ground hollow, which during the times of Birkner of Elbląg housed 11 soldiers. The name of the oak was changed several times. A hundred years ago it was called the 1000-year-old German Oak. From 1898 it was called the royal oak; at that time, the last German Emperor Wilhelm II was the owner of the property in Kadyny. At the emperor's order, a gatehouse was built, in which a uniformed guard took care of the safety of the tree. In the shade of an oak tree during this period, among others, the emperor with Empress Augusta Victoria, their grandson Ferdinand with the Russian princess Kira and the most distinguished guests from all over Europe. After the Second World War, the oak was called the Kadyny Oak. The six 300-350-year-old oaks growing in a row next to them symbolized the six sons of Princess Kadyna, the wonderful beauty of the town's founder, from the ruler of these lands, Widewut. Later, called the "Oak of the Rebirth of Poland", it finally took the name of the local national hero Jan Bażyński, the former owner of Kadyny. Jan was a knight and politician, thanks to whom large areas of Prussia were attached to the Crown during the reign of Kazimierz Jagiellończyk.
