Franciscan monastery complex in Kadyny - the Franciscan monastery complex built in 1745–1799, on a hill in Kadyny, in the place of an old Prussian town of the Pomezan tribe.

In 1682, the owner of Kadyny was Jan Teodor Schlieben - the province governor of Livonia and one of the leaders of the anti-elective opposition in Ducal Prussia. The follower of Lutheranism became a zealous Catholic under the influence of the Jesuits from Reszel, which led him to actively support the Catholic Church. Even before 1682, he began building a chapel in honor of St. Anthony of Padua and living quarters for monks, on the site of a medieval castle, on a hill overlooking Kadyny. He then asked Father Erazm Maron, the provincial of the Greater Poland Province of the Bernardines, to take care of this place.

Schlieben planned to build a church and a Loreto House in the village. The settlement of the Bernardines was to result, in the founder's intention, in converting Protestants in the vicinity of Gdańsk and Elbląg. Schlieben gave the monks not only a place to build a church and a monastery, but also four Prussian acres of land, a meadow, farm animals (two horses and two oxen) and two carts. He resigned from charging fees for logging trees in the forest and for catching fish. His son also supported the Franciscans by giving them land.

After the partitions of Poland, the areas around Elbląg were incorporated into Prussia. It was then that the monastery began to decline, and its final end and closure took place on April 6, 1826, when the last three monks were transferred to other monasteries. The monastery buildings were partially demolished, and those that remained deteriorated more and more until they fell into complete ruin.

The first chapel at the site of the future church was wooden. Even a small fire could lead to its complete destruction, so the monks tried to erect brick buildings. The cornerstone for the construction of the temple was consecrated by the suffragan of Warmia, bishop Franciszek Kurdwanowski. The construction of the church began in 1716 and lasted until 1727.

The Franciscan monastery - above Cadinen - was built in the first half of the 18th century and has only partially survived. After the monastery was closed in 1826, the buildings fell into disrepair and some had to be demolished. The monastery church and a side wing have been preserved.
