Already in the days of rafting on the Saale in the 17th century, there was an Anger house with liquor licenses, where you could buy "Nordhäuser grain brandy" and freshly smoked fish. Fishermen, raftsmen, stonemasons and rowers met there, all of whom sailed the Saale from here. When the weather was nice, around 1820 the first bathers came - hard to believe - in 1852 there was even an indoor swimming pool near the bathing establishment. Simple benches not far from the Angerhäuschen offered a pleasant stay. (hallescher-anger.de.)
