"No one knows exactly when it was built. Sparrenburg Castle – or more precisely, Sparrenberg Castle – was first documented in 1256.

A trip to Bielefeld's landmark is worthwhile at any time of year, as the mighty fortress offers visitors a magnificent panoramic view of the university city at the foot of the Teutoburg Forest. The extensive castle grounds are situated along one of Germany's most beautiful ridge trails and are open year-round."
