The author of the fountain, which was inaugurated in 1988, is the Aachen sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg. Dieburg carnival groups can be seen on the base of the building. The figures can be moved with the help of hinge joints and some spit water, which is very popular with children. The figures are the "Gänsercher", which is important for the carnival, as well as the "Gunkes und sei Bawwett", which appear in all carnival sessions. Dieburg is a carnival stronghold and has the KVD, the carnival club with the largest number of members in Germany.
