Two classic nudes adorn the hedge garden in Hamburg's city park. The life-size figures are by the sculptor Oskar Ulmer and show a young man and a young woman standing erect and undressed in the vicinity of the park. A comparison with the biblical models Adam and Eve is obvious, even if the usual fig leaf is missing. When the figures were set up in the early 1930s, some Hamburg citizens felt that the sculptures, which were based on the antique model, were “too naked”. The two sculptures are slightly elevated and a certain distance apart, each on a brick base. The postures of the two figures are slightly out of symmetry, in the case of "Eva" even more than in the second figure due to the bent arm. Both radiate youth and vitality.
