An important memorial to the Wall was created here on Bernauer Strasse. Many people (fortunately) no longer know it "in real life" and did not have to live in the GDR.
The whole route from the Nordbahnhof (go in there too, there is information on successful and thwarted underground escape attempts) to Mauerpark is worth seeing, especially the associated exhibitions. Perhaps they can help people who did not live in the GDR to understand the absurdity of the regime and life in the GDR. For everyone who experienced it, this is another - sometimes unpleasant - refresher of memories of the Wall and the GDR.
