The Protestant church of St. Mary (Kirchenkreis Berlin Stadtmitte) is located on the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße at the foot of the television tower in Berlin's Mitte district, near the Alexanderplatz. It is the oldest still sacred used municipal parish church of Berlin, one of originally six medieval church buildings in the historical center of Berlin, in the formerly densely built Marienviertel.

It is believed that the construction of the church as a parish church of the medieval New Town of Berlin began around 1270. The at least first sure mention can be found in a letter of indulgence from 1294.Around 1470, the mural of the Dance of Death, which is one of Berlin's most famous and oldest monuments, was created. It is one of the last preserved representatives of the 'monumental' medieval dances of the Middle Ages north of the Alps, giving it a meaning that reaches far beyond Berlin.
