The castle was likely damaged by fire during the Thirty Years' War. Reconstruction was completed in 1643.
.... In 1904, the Völkel family became owners of the complex and subsequently built the estate park, which served as a family recreation area and included a bathhouse and a tennis court.
From 1947 to 1973, the castle served as a school.
