The Old Town Hall on the Altmarkt is the landmark of the city of Plauen. The city building was first mentioned in documents in 1382. The Renaissance gable and the historic art clock give the Old Town Hall its face. In 1548 the city was in flames. The town hall was badly damaged in the town fire. The building has been rebuilt and changed again and again in the city's history. The Second World War also left its mark. The roof was badly hit in an air raid. The historic clock in the gable is a replica of the original art clock from 1548. In recent years it has been extensively reconstructed. The well-known Plauen restorer Sonnhild Müller was involved in the work. During the almost two-year "break", an image of the clock was attached to a tarpaulin on the town hall. The historic art clock now shines again in its original version from 1922.

The jewel of Plauen and the city's landmark is the Old Town Hall with its beautiful Renaissance gable from 1548.
The town hall was first mentioned in 1382. The clock from 1548 shows a ball with the phases of the moon between the lions striking the quarter of an hour. When the hour strikes, the left figure moves the staff, the right moves the beard. The end is the sundial from 1784.
