Weiße Elster River Landscape

I can recommend this hike, paths are natural, gradients are minimal. However, sturdy shoes are recommended!

The romantic valley of the White Elster between lush meadows, forests and sometimes high rock faces is perfect for long walks, hikes or bike tours.On its way from the source in the Bohemian Aš to the confluence with the Saale, the White Elster mainly characterizes the easternmost part of Thuringia and passes the cities of Greiz and Gera. But for the time being it reaches the German border at Bad Elster after a few kilometers, is dammed behind Oelsnitz to the Pirk dam, flows through Plauen and the Vogtland Switzerland and finally crosses the Saxon border at Elsterberg.Only 200 meters after the Trieb flows into the White Elster, the Elstertal Bridge, the second largest brick bridge in the world, is close to the Pöhl Dam.
