The Pöhl Dam, a significant man-made monument, is nestled in the picturesque Vogtland region of Saxony, Germany, near the town of Jocketa. Standing at an elevation of approximately 373 meters, this impressive curved concrete gravity dam was constructed between 1958 and 1964, primarily to provide flood control, industrial water supply, and energy generation. Hiking

The dam of the Pöhl dam is a curved concrete dam. The dam was built from 1958 to 1964 near Jocketa (today part of the municipality of Pöhl) in the Vogtland (commissioned in 1964). The dam takes its name from the village of Pöhl, which is now under water. In fact, the underwater location serves as a diving attraction. The dammed water, the shoot, is a tributary of the White Elster.

    Hiking

A view from below is also highly recommended! A hike through the Triebal valley leads directly to the dam. This tour is very pleasant, especially when it is very hot. The water is ice cold (even in midsummer) and cools the whole valley.
