The Sint-Laurentius Chapel is an accessible field chapel in Opheers, located at Kapelstraat 23. The chapel is located at a crossroads of old roads. These go to Opheers, Batsheers, Heers and Liek. It used to stand on a mound, but when the road was raised, the mound disappeared. The chapel used to be surrounded by a lime tree and two maple trees. Only one maple tree remains, the lime tree disappeared in 1929. There is now a house behind the chapel. There was once a pilgrimage here to a statue of Saint Catherine. The year of construction of the chapel is not clear. The chapel was already depicted on the Ferraris maps (1771-1777). The year 1737 is scratched into the woodwork.
