Reconstruction of an Iron Age farmstead in Riedenburg-Oberhofen. During archaeological excavations in 1981, the remains of a Hallstatt-era manor were unearthed in Kastlhof. These included imprints of a split-plank fence that once enclosed an area approximately 60 x 70 meters in size. While numerous settlement remains were found within this enclosure, no buildings could be reconstructed.

This replica of a very archaic Celtic settlement, located directly on the original Altmühl backwaters, is just one of many. The entire archaeological park stretches for almost 40 kilometers along the Altmühl River and its surroundings. At least you can get a glimpse of the former way of life—or perhaps we should say, the art of survival.

All in all, it's definitely worth a visit and highly recommended.
