Description: Replica of an Iron Age homestead in Riedenburg-Oberhofen. During the archaeological excavations in 1981, the remains of a Hallstatt manor came to light in Kastlhof. Imprints of a split screed fence, which formerly enclosed an interior measuring approximately 60 x 70 meters. Although numerous settlement remains were found inside this complex, buildings could not be reconstructed.

This replica of a very archaic Celtic settlement, located directly on the original Altmühl backwaters, is just one of many. The entire archaeological park stretches for almost 40 kilometers along the Altmühl River and its surroundings. At least you can get a glimpse of the former way of life—or perhaps we should say, the art of survival.

All in all, it's definitely worth a visit and highly recommended.
