At the beginning of the 18th century was on the area of today's Schönwasserpark a farm called Schoenwater. The elongated, 28-acre park with pond, prominent coniferous groups and blood beech is considered the first public park Krefelds and was created around 1924. The botanical garden adjoins directly to the park.
West of the Linn Castle Park, separated by railroad tracks and motorway, is the 28-hectare Schönwasserpark. Originally a landscaped park from the 19th century, it was expanded in the 1920s as part of emergency work considerably east along the Johansenaue and Crön. The elongated park is Krefeld's first public park complex with straight paths, a large pond area and varied planting. At the end of the complex lies on a large terrace and framed by cut plane trees the house Schönwasser. The park's large pond reflects striking bald cypresses, weeping willows and coniferous groups. The park offers a special play of colors both in the spring for narcissus and rhododendron flowers, as well as for the autumn coloring of the trees.
The park is a listed building and is designated protected landscape area.Opening hours:
