The coffin route is named after the medieval route used to transport coffins and the dead to burial at St Oswald’s Church in Grasmere.
It's a wonderfully runnable trail, well maintained but still slightly technical underfoot. The views over Rydal Water and onto the fells are awesome, you'll have to stop to admire them though!
