    Old train station with potential

Varresbeck station was located at km 24.77 on the REG line from Düsseldorf to Hagen and on to Dortmund (kilometres from D-Derendorf). When the Rhenish route opened, the station was in the area of the still independent municipality of Sonnborn and was therefore referred to as "Sonnborn Rh". Only after incorporation into the city in 1888 did it become the westernmost station in the Elberfeld city area. The district was not yet fully developed at that time, but there were already the first companies in the vicinity. Major modifications were made before the end of the century, when a new connection to the BME valley line to Vohwinkel was built (opened April 1, 1896). Since a large marshalling yard was soon to be built in Vohwinkel, there was an interesting route alternative to the BME line from the eastern Ruhr area/Hagen. This is also the reason for some sidings in Varresbeck. However, the actual branching between the Düsseldorf and Vohwinkler branches of the REG line took place somewhat to the west of the actual station (at the later Lüntenbeck stop), with the route being laid out on multiple tracks on this section. In the Second World War, the railway got off lightly, so that the structure of the station was actually the same for decades.

Wuppertal-Varresbeck station (short: Varresbeck station) was a station in Wuppertal. It was located on the "Wuppertal Northern Railway", which opened in 1879 and was closed in this section in 1999.
