When the summer weather is nice, Stockholmers flock to the Skansen open-air museum. You can spend a whole day on Skansen without ever getting bored.
The open-air museum goes back to Dr. Artur Hazelius (1833 – 1901) back. He wanted to present Swedish cultural history in a new way. This is how the world's first open-air museum, the Skansen Open-Air Museum, came into being in 1881.

Skansen was the first open-air museum in the world. Here you can experience in a fun way what life in Sweden used to be like. The old houses come from all regions of Sweden.
In the summer, the 'residents' walk around in traditional costumes and demonstrate folk dancing and glass blowing, among other things.
In the zoo you will encounter native Scandinavian animal species, such as the bear, moose and wolf.
