The Wehrau is a small river in Schleswig-Holstein that flows into the Kiel Canal south of Rendsburg
here in Osterrönfeld. With a catchment area
of 151 km², it is the largest tributary of the Kiel Canal after the southern Eider.

Originally it was a left tributary of the Eider, but the construction of the canal, which runs above Rendsburg in the old Eider bed, cut it off from today's Lower Eider.

Now the Wehrau flows into the Kiel Canal from the south at canal kilometer 62.3 in Osterrönfeld.

In the Middle Ages the Wehrau was initially called Rönne. Its current name probably results from the fact that it was dammed in times of war to defend the city of Rendsburg. The Wehrau rises near Emkendorf near the road to Haßmoor and then flows
westwards towards the Emkendorf village of Bokelholm.
At the Neumünster-Flensburg railway line, it splits into two branches:
The right branch, called the Linnbek, receives most of the water and flows northeast
of the railway line to Osterrönfeld.
The left branch, called the Wehrau, gets its water mainly from the Mühlenau coming from the Brahmsee and passes under the railway line twice, first at Bokelholm and then again at Osterrönfeld, where it rejoins the Linnbek.
