unst has always been the favorite subject of retired teacher Klaus Weigand. He always pursued his creative hobbies in his free time, initially as a chicken cartoonist. With his "C.Art.Huhns" he gained national renown in the artist scene. "I develop my own creative ways and do things that no one else does," says Weigand.

Colorful clays
Weigand does not paint his ceramic figures at all. They are colorful anyway. Around 20 different types of clay from the Westerwald provide colour. The tones from which Weigand composes garments, capes, faces, hair and even eyeballs and pupils are from salmon and leather colors to bright white and extra black to brown-red and "Indian summer".

Everyday, Bible and crib scenes
The genuine is important to Weigand. Whether it's a dancer, a fireman or a tramp, the figures are kept in earth tones and their facial expressions reflect real life. The shepherds in Weigand's nativity scenes are poor and sometimes tired, the children play with the sheep or hug their mothers. Sometimes it even happens that Mary breastfeeds the Christ child. "I want to make the viewer think," says the artist. He collects the requisites for his bible and nativity scenes, moss, sand or wood, on hikes through nature.
