      The late Gothic Freiberg Kornhaus, one of several original storage buildings in the city, is integrated into the defense system and has loopholes in the solid outer walls. There are loopholes on the first floor. To the east stood the Red Deer Tower, which was demolished in 1864, and to the west the preserved Lime Tower. The three-story building with a mighty gable roof and impressive roof construction from the time it was built around 1510 has two original blind niche gables. Today the building houses the city library.

        Info:

        Late Gothic granary in
        Freiberg.

        Originally, the
        late Gothic granary building
        was flanked by two towers;
        to the southwest by the still-preserved Lime Tower
        and to the southeast by the
        Red Deer Tower, demolished in 1864.

        After World War II, nothing was done to the slowly but surely decaying building.

        Between 2013 and 2015, it was extensively renovated.

        Today, the city library, among other things, is located within the venerable walls.
